Beloved radio host Peter Hope passes away after lengthy battle with cancer

Long-time announcer and former host of Dehcho Dene, Peter Hope, passed away last night after battling cancer.

Hope grew up in Fort Simpson, N.W.T., speaking Dene Zhatie (South Slavey) with his family.

He will be remembered for his extensive career serving Denendeh, sharing his love of language and storytelling on the airways.

Funeral details will be held and arranged at Holy Trinity Anglican Church at a later date in Yellowknife.

Hope leaves behind his wife Wendy and family at this time.
