RCMP raid seizes contraband in Fort Providence

Police have seized more 69 bottles of alcohol, 4,600 cigarettes, more than a pound of cannabis, and nearly eight ounces of hash from a residence in Fort Providence.

RCMP in the community, along with officers from Fort Simpson and Behchokǫ̀, searched the residence and found the contraband, along with other items “that supported contraband sales.”

Patrick Mazerolle, 68, is now facing charges under the Cannabis Act, Liquor ACt, Criminal Code and Excise Act.

His first court date is set for May 5 in Fort Providence.

In a news release, police say the seizure was possible after “utilizing information from multiple sources in the community.”
