Inuvik residents don’t seem keen on sitting on council.

The town extended its deadline for the municipal election nomination period as not enough people put their name forward for councillor and district education authority positions.

The town council is made up of one mayor and six councillors.

Chidi Amobi, returning officer, issued a notice announcing the new deadline for nominations is Sept. 27.

Nomination forms are available on the town’s website.

The election will be held on Oct. 18.
