According to the Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO), Dr. Kami Kandola, two kids attending Weledeh Catholic School have tested positive for COVID-19 on Sept 4.

Two classrooms are considered exposures and the CPHO says school staff have contacted the families and students affected.

In-person learning is recommended as there is no “known transmission of COVID-19 at the school,” reads a health advisory.

All students from the affected classrooms are considered contacts and are required to isolate.

If your child was not in one of those classrooms they do not need to isolate at this time.

Public Health encourages parents to monitor for any signs and symptoms of COVID-19 in their child and ask anyone with symptoms to arrange for testing.

The current active case count in the NWT is 140 with 63 cases coming from Yellowknife.
