New COVID exposures linked on flights to Hay River, Gameti

According to the Office of the Chief Public Health (OCPHO), the latest COVID-19 exposures have been linked to a couple of flights from Yellowknife to two of the communities.

“The beginnings of community transmission is occurring in Yellowknife,” reads the public exposure webpage.

“Residents should consider all public spaces as exposure sites.”

The new exposure links are as follows:

Fully vaccinated residents on a flight from Yellowknife to Hay River on Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. are asked to self-monitor and if symptoms develop to isolate and get tested immediately. Those partially vaccinated need to isolate for 10 days and arrange for testing.

Fully vaccinated residents on a flight from Yellowknife to Gameti on Aug 22 at 3:30 p.m. are asked to self-monitor and if symptoms develop to isolate and get tested immediately. Those partially vaccinated need to isolate for 10 days and arrange for testing.

There are 226 active cases of COVID- 19 in the territory, 27 coming from Yellowknife.
