While mail, cargo and medical travel flights will continue on-demand, North-Wright Airways has suspended all scheduled passenger flights for Fort Good Hope and Colville Lake.
“The situation will continuously be assessed for a possible resuming of flights on August 30,” reads a notice posted to social media.
Additionally, it says flights for Délı̨nę and Tulít’a may be cancelled on short notice and frequency “reduced significantly.”
“We know these are challenging times for our region. We all need to work together, follow the wishes of the community leaders, the Chief Public Health Officer and all the officials working to help us during these times,” reads the notice. “Most importantly, don’t travel unless absolutely essential!”
The decision comes amidst the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19 in the Sahtú.
