Police have found the body of a 42-year-old man from Behchokǫ̀ near Frank Channel.

RCMP says he was reported missing on June 10, several days after the man had left on a canoe trip.

Following unsuccessful ground searches, RCMP used a helicopter to fly over the area. About 7 p.m., officers and volunteers found the individual near a canoe matching the description owned by the missing man.

Community members provided a boat and assisted RCMP in retrieving the body.

According to a news release, the man is presumed to have drowned. A post-mortem examination has been ordered.
