According to her family, Marguerite Lafferty always knew she was going to make it to 100.
This year, Lafferty had to do things a little differently in order to celebrate her birthday safely.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Lafferty family and other members of the community were unable to visit.
Luckily for Marguerite, a couple of her family members work at the Jimmy Erasmus Seniors Home, where she lives.
“We just wanted the whole world to know,” says Regina Lafferty, Marguerite’s great-niece and day program coordinator for the home.
“She was a good woman,” she adds.
In her thirties, Lafferty chose to adopt her nephew Archie.
Archie says he was “really happy” to get the phone call from the seniors home saying staff were celebrating his mom.
When CKLB asked if Archie hopes to reach 100, he said it’s in the “hands of the creator.”
