Police, fire crews respond to car fire downtown Yellowknife

Several police officers and firefighters are still on scene near the downtown liquor store in Yellowknife.

As first reported by NNSL, the crews responded to a car fire shortly before 1 p.m. The burnt car is still in the liquor store parking lot.

Police have put up security tape around the scene, but both 49th Street and 51st Avenue remain open to traffic.

RCMP told CKLB that officers responded to a call at 12:54 p.m. When they arrived , “the vehicle was engulfed in flames”.

Police say there were no injuries and an investigation is ongoing with the City of Yellowknife’s Fire Division.
