Residents of Yellowknife may notice City emergency vehicles with sirens howling and lights flashing on Friday, May 15, but it’s just a training exercise.

The City of Yellowknife says the exercise “will involve the use of City emergency vehicles at full speed.”

“The Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) will be conducting a training exercise in the Kam Lake, Grace Lake and Engel Business district areas between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, May 15,” Corporate Communications Advisor for the City Alison Harrower said.

Harrower says that YKFD  is using the training exercise to plan for and respond to future incidents that may occur in Yellowknife.

“Residents are asked to follow all usual road safety protocols as these tests are completed,” Harrower said.
