The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is asking people who qualify for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) to apply on certain days corresponding to your birth month.
Nearly a million Canadians applied for CERB on the first day of applications on April 6.
“The CRA has been processing almost 1,000 applications per minute, on average, since the portal opened,” Christopher Doody a media relations officer with the CRA said.
Doody urged Canadians waiting for a response on their application to remain patient.
“For the most part, Canadians have respected this request and we want to thank them for their cooperation,” Doody said. “It demonstrates that Canadians truly understand that we are all in this together.”
To apply for CERB online visit Canada.ca/coronavirus.
Canadians looking to get more information about the CERB or, who are unable to apply online, can call the toll-free telephone line at 1-833-966-2099.
