Some Yellowknife businesses are offering ‘elderly hours’ to help protect older shoppers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It seems that those most vulnerable to COVID-19 are individuals 65 years of age or older, those with compromised immune systems as well as people with underlying medical conditions and Yellowknife businesses are doing their part to protect these citizens. Although there has been no confirmed cases in the NWT.

Local stores implementing ‘elderly hours’ are:

  • Shoppers Drug Mart-8:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m.
  • Independent (Old Airport Road)-7:00 a.m. till 8:00 a.m.
  • Co-Op-8:00 a.m. till 9:00a.m.
  • Canadian Tire-8:30 a.m. till 9:30 a.m.

Shoppers Drug Mart Pharmacy is even offering free drug delivery for those who are self-isolating or can’t leave the house.
