Tireless NWT Indigenous rights activist Sandra Faye Lockhart passes away

Tributes are pouring in for the late Sandra Faye Lockhart.

Her death was announced Wednesday.

Lockhart was a well known, tireless advocate for Indigenous women and the labour movement.

She was the wife of former Lutsel K’e chief Felix Lockhart.

Lockhart had reportedly been battling health issues this past year.

She was originally from the Mistawasis First Nation, in Saskatchewan.

Sandra became an important advocate for Indigenous women in the NWT  as an Indigenous representative with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

No date or location for her funeral has been posted yet.
