A jury is expected to begin deliberating Friday in the Yellowknife trial of a Whati man charged with having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

It’s actually the third trial for Cory Nitsiza, 29.

The first two ended with hung juries – the jurors having not been able to come up with a unanimous verdict.

The sexual assault is alleged to have occurred at Nitsiza’s home in August of 2016.

Closing submissions from his lawyer and the Crown prosecutor got underway Friday morning.

Nitsiza is currently not in custody pending the jury’s verdict.
