Fort Providence Shooting Suspect Taken into Custody

The suspect of the deadly Fort Providence shooting has been arrested.

Krystian Cogswell was taken into custody in Kelowna, B.C. on May 15th. He was discovered in a local residence after the Kelowna RCMP’s Emergency Response Team was investigating an unrelated search warrant.

Cogswell is being transported back to the NWT, where he will then face charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault. Cogswell was on the run after a shooting that killed one man and left two others with severe injuries.

Members of the Northwest Territories Major Crimes Unit have expressed their thanks to the local police of Kelowna and Surrey, B.C. for their help in apprehending Cogswell.
