Man charged in attempted robbery after release from custody, say RCMP

27-year-old faces multiple charges, including robbery and uttering threats

RCMP say a man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a Yellowknife business shortly after being released from custody.

In a police report issued Wednesday, officers say they received a call about a robbery attempt involving a knife at a business on Old Airport Road. The suspect had reportedly fled the scene about 25 minutes before the call came in.

Police later identified the suspect as someone who had just been released from custody on an unrelated arrest warrant.

Following an investigation, 27-year-old Kallas Drybones is charged with robbery, uttering threats, misuse of a credit card, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and mischief.

Drybones appeared before a Justice of the Peace and remains in custody.
