The NWT RCMP has issued a nationwide warrant for Krystian Cogswell, who fled Fort Providence after a shooting that left one man dead and two men seriously injured.
Cogswell has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and two counts of aggravated assault.
The incident took place inside a residence in Fort Providence on March 15 after midnight. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old man deceased and another man injured, who was transported to the local health centre.
A second injured man had already been taken to the health centre and was later airlifted to Yellowknife for emergency treatment.
The suspect is a 22-year-old from Surrey, British Columbia.
“Cogswell remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous,” RCMP stated.
Investigators believe has likely fled south in the territory.
Cogswell is also wanted on a separate warrant from the Inuvik RCMP for drug trafficking offences in July 2024. At the time, he was under bail conditions requiring him to remain in BC and prohibiting him from entering the NWT.
Anyone with information about Cogswell’s whereabouts is asked to contact their local police station or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
