A major RCMP operation in Yellowknife on Friday resulted in one arrest and the seizure of drug precursors, money, a handgun and ammunition.
As part of an investigation, police executed a search warrant at an apartment building in an unspecified neighbourhood in the city, bringing in the Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, K-9 team and a drone, stated a release
Cabin Radio last week reported the incident was at the Copper Sky condos at the top of School Draw Avenue.
RCMP stated there were no reported injuries during the raid that resulted in the seizure of approximately $8,300 in cash, a pistol, ammunition, drug precursors (substances used in the production of drugs) and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, sixty-one-year-old David Simpson of Yellowknife has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and weapons offences.
He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and is in custody.
