An early morning single-vehicle rollover Friday on Highway 3 has claimed the life of the lone occupant, say RCMP.
The crash happened near the kilometre 290 marker between Behchokǫ̀ and Yellowknife.
When RCMP and EMS arrived, they found a vehicle in the ditch off the highway on its roof, read a release.
The lone occupant of the vehicle died at the scene. No details have been provided concerning the person’s identity or the cause of the crash.
Behchokǫ̀ RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the collision with support of a traffic reconstructionist and the NWT Coroner Service.
Highway 3, also known as the Yellowknife Highway, can be a dangerous stretch of road.
Roughly 40 kilometres starting at Behchokǫ̀ are currently being rebuilt and are temporarily gravel surfaced. Delays can be expected as pilot vehicles are in use.
