The territory has a new head doctor.
Dr. Claudia Kraft has been appointed as the new Territorial Medical Director.
The person in the position provides direction on medical staff and services across the territory’s health care system.
Dr. AnneMarie Pegg previously held the position throughout much of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a new release, Kraft said, “This new role presents an opportunity to continue to focus on high quality care that meaningfully improves our health and wellness while addressing health inequalities.”
The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority says Kraft has been a doctor in the NWT for 10 years and also previously worked in Nunavut.
Kraft will take over the position starting on June 20 and her term will last three years.
