Starting next year, the Tłı̨chǫ Government will require all employees, contractors and participants in on-the-land program to be vaccinated.
As part of the new policy, employees can take one additional day of paid leave to go get vaccinated. The Tłı̨chǫ Government is requiring all staff receive a first dose by Nov. 23.
Anyone applying for a job with the Tłı̨chǫ Government will also need to provide proof of vaccination, including contractors.
Residents looking to participate in on-the-land programs held by the government will need to submit proof of vaccination as part of their application.
The policy allows for exemptions due to medical reasons or “grounds protected by the Human Rights Act of the NWT.” Staff can apply for an exemption through human resources and provide appropriate documentation.
Any employees that are not fully vaccinated by Dec. 31 will be required to go through mandatory vaccine education sessions and training on the new policy.
“Our priority is providing a safe working environment for all Tłı̨chǫ Government employees and contractors, and all visitors to our offices,” said Acting Grand Chief Sonny Zoe.
