Fire destroys house in Inuvik on weekend
Cause is under investigation by Fire Marshal, although no criminality is suspected, says Inuvik Fire Department
Foul play is not suspected in a fire that severely damaged a house in Inuvik over the weekend, says the Inuvik Fire Department.
On Saturday morning at 6:10 am the department responded to a report of a structure fire on Reliance Street.
Upon arrival, responding personnel encountered heavy fire on the side of the building and into the house, stated the department in a release.
Crews began suppression operations and verified the home was unoccupied.
The fire was under control within 30 minutes and all firefighters were off scene and back in service by 11:30 am.
The home sustained heavy fire damage and smoke damage throughout.
The cause is under investigation in partnership with the Office of the Fire Marshal, although no criminality is suspected.
