Early morning fire at Franklin House contained by Yellowknife firefighters

Flames were visible on the third floor of the building early Thursday morning

Yellowknife Fire Division responded to a structure fire at Franklin House early Thursday morning, where flames were seen coming from a third-floor window.

Firefighters arrived on scene around 2 a.m. and quickly extinguished the blaze. Tenants were safely evacuated from the building. One tenant sustained minor burns but did not require medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

According to YKFD, the fire is believed to have originated from a window-mounted air conditioning unit. No formal investigation is required since the case is not considered suspicious.
