Hay River RCMP arrested three people for impaired driving over the weekend and are warning residents not to drink and drive.
On May 24, police received a report that a 35-year-old woman had driven away from a bar while intoxicated. A roadside alcohol screening showed her breath samples were twice the legal limit.
That same day, a 43-year-old man was caught operating an ATV while impaired on Kátł’odeeche First Nation. His breath sample registered over three times the legal limit.
The following day, a 40-year-old man was observed driving erratically while an officer was on patrol in the community. His breath sample was more than four times the legal limit.
RCMP remind the public that anyone operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 50 mg per 100 mL of blood or higher faces immediate licence suspension. Criminal charges apply if the reading is 80 mg or higher.
All three individuals were released and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
