Two Yellowknife men on bail, and both under weapons prohibition orders, face a host of serious charges after a person had allegedly been forcibly confined and sexually assaulted at a residence on Bigelow Crescent.
In total, three people were arrested after a major police operation on the residential street in the Kam Lake area on May 23rd, stated a release.
RCMP had received information that a person had been sexually assaulted and that drugs and weapons were present in the house.
The Yellowknife Specialized Response Unit took over and a warrant to search the residence was obtained and executed on May 24th with support from the G Division Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification section, Territorial Crime Reduction Unit and other resources.
Evidence was seized from the residence, including a shotgun and drug trafficking paraphernalia, stated the release.
Charged are:
- 28-year-old Tevin McNeely is charged with: sexual assault; two counts of weapons possession; unauthorized possession of a firearm; forcible confinement; trafficking of cocaine; and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.
- 38-year-old Dean McNeely is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm; two counts of failure to comply with a release order; and two counts of weapons possession contrary to an order, trafficking of cocaine.
- 61-year-old Maureen McNeely of Yellowknife is charged with: possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and forcible confinement.
Tevin and Dean McNeely appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody. Maureen McNeely was released conditionally to appear in court at a later date.
