RCMP in Norman Wells say they seized a range of illicit items during a search of a rental property on May 3, including multiple types of drugs, unstamped cigarettes, prescription pills, and a loaded handgun.
Officers were initially called to the residence to keep the peace, and while on scene, they observed what appeared to be crack cocaine in plain view. All five occupants were arrested, and a search warrant was executed.
Police say they seized 738 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 19 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 30 grams of illicit cannabis, 18 cartons of unstamped cigarettes, and a loaded handgun with two loaded magazines.
The firearm had been previously reported stolen in Alberta.
Two men from Alberta, 37-year-old Devon Salisbury and 42-year-old Robert Webber, have been charged with seven counts related to drug trafficking and firearms offences.
Salisbury, who was already under conditions prohibiting him from possessing firearms and requiring him to remain in Alberta, faces additional charges for failing to comply with release conditions and obstructing a peace officer.
Both men remain in custody. The three other individuals arrested were released without charges.
Norman Wells thank the community for their assistance and continued support as they work to address drug trafficking in the area.
