Edmonton man charged for unlawfully occupying Elder’s home in Fort Resolution

RCMP say the 18-year-old was found inside after community complaints

An 18-year-old from Edmonton has been charged after allegedly unlawfully occupying an Elder’s residence in Fort Resolution, RCMP say.

Police say they received two complaints about the incident on April 3 at 10:15 a.m. When officers arrived at the home, they found a man inside. He was asked to leave the residence while police conducted a search to ensure no one else was unlawfully present.

Following an investigation, David Kevin Ndayishimiye was charged with one count of unlawful occupant offence. He was released on conditions, including a requirement not to return to Fort Resolution.

Ndayishimiye is scheduled to appear in territorial court on June 11.

Police thank the community for their cooperation and ask anyone with further information to contact the Fort Resolution detachment at 867-394-1111, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
