RCMP in Behchokǫ̀ say they seized 39 bottles of illicit vodka during a traffic stop on April 8.

In a Facebook update, police said officers pulled over a driver who was showing signs of impairment. The alcohol — 39 bottles of 375 mL vodka — was confiscated and later destroyed.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was issued a 24-hour licence suspension and charged under the NWT Liquor Act.

“These enforcement activities reflect Behchokǫ̀ RCMP’s continued commitment to reducing alcohol-related harm and bootlegging in our community,” the detachment stated.
