RCMP say two more people have been charged in connection with an alleged shooting and drug trafficking case in Fort Resolution on March 25.
In an update Tuesday, police said further investigation led to charges against 28-year-old Taylor McKay and 42-year-old Kimberly Giroux, both from Fort Resolution.
Both are charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition without a licence. Giroux faces an additional charge of being unlawfully in a dwelling.
The investigation began after police received a report that several shots had been fired inside a residence on March 25. A search warrant was executed, leading to the seizure of:
- 465 grams of suspected crack cocaine
- 79 grams of illicit cannabis
- Two loaded sawed-off shotguns
- $500 in cash
- Several cell phones and other drug paraphernalia
Two men from Ontario and Alberta were previously charged in connection to the case.
McKay and Giroux are scheduled to appear in court on June 11.
