Man charged after pointing firearm at Yellowknife Sobering Centre

Suspect to appear in court on March 25


A man was arrested after reportedly pointing a firearm at Yellowknife’s Sobering Centre on March 6 around 7 p.m., according to RCMP.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody without incident, and the weapon—an imitation black revolver—was seized.

Following the investigation, 43-year-old Darren Kenny has been charged with pointing a firearm, using an imitation firearm to commit an offence, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Kenny is scheduled to appear in Territorial Court on March 25.
