Albertan youth arrested in Whatì for drug trafficking

Police seized 100g cocaine, $6,000 in cash, and a weapon

A youth from Alberta has been arrested at a residence in Whatì where police seized a large amount of cocaine, cash and a firearm on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they found approximately 100 grams of suspected crack cocaine, about $6,000 in cash, a pistol and ammunition.

During the investigation, a male suspect, who provided a false name and obstructed an officer, was subsequently arrested.

The youth is now facing eight charges related to firearm and drug trafficking, including unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession for trafficking.

His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is scheduled to appear before a Justice of the Peace again on Thursday.
