A loaded handgun was seized and a, Edmonton man arrested after an incident Hay River RCMP believe was connected with the drug trade.
On the evening of February 18th, Hay River RCMP received a tip that a person was being held against their will at a residence on Fir Crescent, stated a release.
Officers contained the residence while additional resources including the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, Remote Piloted Aircraft System Unit, Territorial Crime Reduction Unit and Critical Incident Command were brought to the community.
As a result of the operation, nine individuals exited the residence peacefully and were taken into custody. The reported victim exited the residence unharmed. No injuries were reported.
A warrant to search the residence was sought and executed, leading to the seizure of a loaded handgun.
Eight of the arrested parties have since been released. Ly Gabriel Galido, 22, of Edmonton has been charged with several weapons-related offences.
He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.
The investigation remains ongoing. The allegations of forcible confinement have not been substantiated.
