A man on bail for alleged robbery and weapons offences in Ontario and Yellowknife faces new charges after an incident in Ndilǫ his week.
On the evening of February 19th, Yellowknife RCMP received a report of a person causing a disturbance at a residence in Ndilǫ, stated a release.
While police were en route to the residence, information was received indicating that the suspect had armed themselves with a knife and was threatening another occupant.
The suspect was also reported to have access to a long gun.
Resources including the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and Critical Incident Commander were engaged.
After the residence was contained, the suspect emerged and was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported. A firearm was recovered from the scene.
As a result, 27-year-old Brenden Depencier of Yellowknife has been charged with: Assault with a weapon, uttering threats, mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unsafe storage and unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of failing to comply with a court order.
He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody to appear again on February 21st.
