An armed man broke into a Fort Smith residence on Sunday and stole a vehicle at gunpoint, say RCMP.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Christopher Wanderingspirit, described as an Indigenous male, with short dark hair, approximately 5-foot-8, and weighing approximately 170 pounds.

Cpl. Mat Halstead stated in a release RCMP are actively seeking the public’s assistance in locating Wanderingspirit, who faces several weapons-related and vehicle-theft charges.

“RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter and theft of a motor vehicle … and were told that a male had broken in through the front door of a residence … armed with a long gun,” the officer stated.

“RCMP have determined that Wanderingspirirt and the victim of the break and enter are known to each other and do not believe there is a significant risk to the greater public at this time.”

Wanderingspirirt was already on court orders, including not to possess a gun.

If you encounter Wanderingspirit, RCMP ask that you do not approach him, but instead call Fort Smith RCMP at 867-872-1111 or 911.
