Two charged after Hay River police find stolen guns, drugs in residence

RCMP seize firearms, fentanyl, and meth during investigation


Hay River RCMP have charged two individuals after discovering stolen firearms and illegal drugs at a residence in Rowe’s Trailer Court on October 6.

According to a Tuesday news release, police responded to a report of an assault at the residence and subsequently executed a search warrant.

Police found three long guns believed to be recently stolen in Hay River, a replica pistol, approximately five grams of suspected fentanyl, about one gram of suspected methamphetamine, as known as crystal meth, and a small quantity of illicit cannabis.

As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Brittany Amelia and 31-year-old Roberto Amelia have been charged with assault, illegal possession of firearm, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Roberto Amelia has also been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both were conditionally released and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
