Hay River RCMP seek home camera footage following weekend shootings

Police say these incidents are tied to drug trade and organized crime

Hay River RCMP responded to two shootings over the Remembrance Day long weekend, and are asking residents for security or doorbell camera footage to assist with identifying the suspect.

A house on Pine Crescent was set on fire and a man had been shot with non-life-threatening injuries on Saturday, November 9. The suspect had fled the scene upon police arrival.

Two days later, the detachment received another call about shots being fired in a residence in the Rowe’s Trailer Court. No injuries were reported, but suspects had once again fled in a vehicle.

“Both of these incidents are believed to be linked to the drug trade and organized crime,” police say in a news release. “No arrests have been made at this time.”

Residents in these areas are asked to check footage during these times:

  • Pine Crescent and Balsam Drive on November 9, between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.
  • Rowe’s Trailer Court and Stewart Drive on November 11, between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

If any suspicious activity is noticed, contact the Hay River RCMP at 874-1111 or submit a tip via Crime Stoppers at www.p3tips.com.
