FGH man arrested after attempting to flee police check in Yellowknife

The incident prompted a stay-in alert for hotel guests at Chateau Nova

A vehicle made a stir in downtown Yellowknife after a failed police check stop on November 9.

Yellowknife RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle near the Chateau Nova hotel for a routine document check, but the driver immediately fled and began circling the parking lot. Hotel guests were told to stay inside the building for safety.

Shortly after, the vehicle drove onto a nearby walking trail, where the driver left the vehicle and broke into a nearby residence.

Following the investigation, 40-year-old Daniel Lennie of Fort Good Hope has been arrested and charged with flight from police, operating a vehicle while prohibited, breaking and entering, and resisting a peace officer.

At the time of his arrest, Lennie was subject to house arrest conditions, having been previously released on bail. He has been taken into custody.
