A missing Hay River man has been found deceased in Alberta and authorities call it a homicide.
Forty-one-year-old Tyler Peterson was last in contact with friends and family on July 3rd, and police issued a request for public assistance on July 10th.
On Aug. 15, Alberta RCMP located human remains in Mackenzie County, in the High Level area, and they were transported to the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
One Aug. 19, the medical examiner identified the deceased as Peterson, and that he was killed by an unknown person.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken charge of the investigation and will be working in conjunction with North West Territories Major Crimes Unit.
Mikey McBryan, of Buffalo Airways, posted on August 3rd: “My life long friend Tyler Peterson has been missing for over 30 days now. Last seen in Hay River July 3rd. Tyler has an amazing family at home and they desperately need information on Tyler’s whereabouts.”
His disappearance raised concerns from many on social media.
At 9:29 a.m. on July 3rd, Peterson was seen using an ATM at the RBC branch on Woodland Drive in Hay River, not far from his home.
From there, Tyler seems to have vanished, reads a Facebook post.
His home and garage were left unlocked, and his vehicle, which had broken down the day before, was left in his driveway, reads a post.
Tyler’s phone was either turned off or stopped working on the day that he disappeared.
