Arson in N’Dilo destroyed a house, Yellowknife RCMP seek public’s help

A tall slim man was seen running away from the scene toward Old Town and Back Bay.

A fire engulfed a residential house and a parked vehicle in N’Dilo early Thursday morning.

The house is believed to belong to Nora Sangris. Her sister, Violet Sangris, shared the unfortunate news on Facebook, asking for donations to help the family recover.

“The inspector said the house is not livable until it is restored by professionals, this could take up to 2 years to fix,” Violet writes in a Facebook post. “Her grandson’s car got destroyed, who is supposed to go back to school at the end of the month.”

Yellowknife RCMP are seeking public’s help to identify the suspected arsonist. A tall, slim man wearing a black hoodie and possibly black pants was seen running from the scene toward Old Town and Back Bay.

Residents with video footage from the Old Town to N’Dilo area on August 8, between 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. are asked to contact the Yellowknife RCMP at 699-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
