Fort Good Hoping man facing second-degree murder after victim died

RCMP says in a Wednesday news release that 53-year-old Floyd Kakfwi of Fort Good Hope has been charged with second-degree murder and is expected to appear in court today.

The victim, Harley Pierrot, was taken to hospital with grievous injuries on June 15 and died almost two weeks later.

Kakfwi was arrested and lodged in RCMP cells that day, but an evacuation order was issued for the community shortly after. He was then released from custody with a court order.
