Inuvik RCMP arrested five people and seized about 70 grams of suspected crack cocaine, over $76,000 in cash, and 70 grams of illicit cannabis from two local apartments on July 21.

All five arrested persons are facing charges following the investigation, says police in a news release.

38-year-old Jolene Andre of Inuvik, 43-year-old Willie Inglangasuk of Inuvik, 21-year-old Krystian Cogswell of British Columbia and 20-year-old Yousha Nayyar of Ontario have all been charged with drug trafficking offences and possession of property over $5,000.

The same charges are laid against a 17-year-old male of Alberta, who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

“The Inuvik RCMP will continue to focus on those individuals that come to our community to profit from the illicit sale of these harmful substances,” says Staff Sergeant Jesse Aubin, Inuvik detachment commander.

“This is also a reminder to those that allow criminal activities to occur in your residence, you will be held accountable under the law.”

All arrested persons were taken into custody.
