Five arrested in Fort Simpson drug bust, cocaine and cash seized

Fort Simpson RCMP arrested five suspects at a local residence on June 20.

Police found more than $3,400, about 65 grams of suspected crack cocaine and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Twenty-three-year-old Faith Martel of K’atl’odeeche First Nation faces four charges, including drug trafficking and escaping lawful custody.

The other four individuals were also charged with drug trafficking offences.

They are 54-year-old Carl Carpenter of Fort Simpson, 42-year-old Adrian Tambour of K’atl’odeeche First Nation, 36-year-old Deidra Villeneuve of Fort Simpson and 38-year-old Savy You of Ontario.

Villeneuve was released and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

All others appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody.

Police say this search is part of an ongoing investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
