Wellbeing check leads to drug bust in Inuvik, one man charged

A wellbeing check in Inuvik prompted RCMP to find drugs, cash, and evidence of drug trafficking. A 27-year-old man was charged with trafficking offences.

Police say they received a request to check on a person who had not been heard from for days on June 13. Upon entering the apartment, officers found $3,700 in cash, cocaine, and an abundance of drug trafficking paraphernalia.

After investigating several people taken into custody from the scene, 27-year-old Jordan Burgher from Ontario was charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime.

Burgher is expected to appear in Inuvik Territorial Court on July 30, 2024.
