Inuvik RCMP didn’t fall for the ‘fell down the stairs’ story and instead charged a man with severely beating his partner.

Police were called to a residence on Wednesday after receiving a call someone inside had been injured.
An RCMP spokesperson stated today that, “Officers were initially told that the female victim had fallen.”
But Corporal Matt Halstead stated in a release that once on scene, it was determined that “the victim’s serious injuries were not consistent with a fall and that a weapon had been used.”
The woman was taken to Inuvik Regional Hospital for treatment.
Inuvik RCMP have charged a 42-year-old man from Inuvik with aggravated assault.
The RCMP are not naming the accused as this is a case of intimate partner violence and his identity could identify the victim.
The accused was held in custody pending a court in the future.
