Media Relations Officer Cpl. Matt Halstead stated, “Marie often imparted her life and work experiences and shared stories about working with members of the media.”

“Marie was greatly appreciative of the professional relationships she developed in this role.”

Countless colleagues and friends across the country will fondly remember her for her steadfast dedication in her role in the RCMP and her genuine love of telling stories.

She was well-known as a community volunteer who participated in many activities on behalf of the RCMP.

Arrangements for a celebration of life and a funeral service have not been finalized at this time.

Privately, Marie was known for her love of small dogs and large gardens, the latter shown by her exquisite and lavish outdoor landscaping and patio decorations.

A cause of death was not released by the RCMP.

Marie has posted on social media about her struggles with depression.

She wrote that she wanted to go public to help erase stigma surrounding the disease.
