While a handful of smaller NWT communities will see a drop in their heating and engine fuel costs this season, others will have to pay more.
According to the GNWT, Jean Marie River, Wrigley and Tulita will enjoy cheaper fuel.
But prices will increase for Fort Good Hope, and the Beaufort Delta communities of Tuktoyaktuk, Aklavik, Tsiigehtchic and Paulatuk.
The new prices for gasoline, for example, range from $1.97 a litre in Wrigley to $2.84 in Paulatuk. The full list can be found here.
The price changes affect the 10 communities serviced by the Department of Infrastructure’s Petroleum Products Program. The GNWT says the adjustments are needed primarily due to increased transportation costs.
Prices are adjusted at least twice per calendar year, and the carbon tax program will require a price change on April 1.
