The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) presents its first live concert series in months called Music from The Edges of Canada. The live concert series starts this Friday December 10th at 7:30pm.
Music From The Edges of Canada is a national initiative that showcases 22 artists in 11 live and virtual concerts in four theatres across Canada. Unlike the live streaming in the rest of Canada, the concert series in Yellowknife will be recorded and aired in February and March 2022.
First on stage at the NACC theatre is Carmen Braden who just released her new CD this October called Seed Songs. Braden’s music is expansive with tunes and lyrics that feel close to home and recognizable even if the music is new. Carmen spoke to CKLB about the creative process she engaged in during this pandemic.
Following Carmen on the line up for Friday night is Wesley Hardisty, fiddling extraordinaire from the Dehcho. Hardisty is originally from Fort Simpson and has released two original albums to date. He has toured all over Canada and is a regular performer at venues across the north.
December 11th Saturday night’s line up is Andrea Bettger and Digawolf starting at 7:30pm.
Multi talented Andrea Bettger, starts off Saturday’s live performance. Andrea is very involved in the northern fiddling scene and has managed to fuse her love of jazz, classical, and bluegrass styles into her musical performances.
Following Bettger, Tlicho musician Diga and his band Digawolf have produced eight in studio albums in the Tlicho language and in English. The band’s passion for music from many genres is evident in the music they create.
With a line up like these four fabulous musicians and their bands, you won’t be disappointed! For tickets to these performances contact the NACC theatre.
