Online voting now open for Tłıchǫ grand chief election

Jackson Lafferty, George Mackenzie and Eddie Erasmus are running for Tłıchǫ grand chief.

For the first time, Tłıchǫ citizens can vote for their grand chief online.

“We are excited that this new opportunity will allow Tłıchǫ citizens who might be impacted by COVID-19, who are in isolation, at work in remote locations or away for educational purposes, another voting option,” said Gabrielle Mackenzie-Scott, the election registrar.

Tłıchǫ citizens can use the OneFeather service to vote. To do so, they will need an active email address, be registered on the official voter list and have their status card number.

Online voting is open until Nov. 16.

The three candidates are George Mackenzie, Eddie Erasmus and Jackson Lafferty.

Online votes will be counted along with those on official election day on Nov. 18.
