18 seniors’ programs across NWT get federal funding

The NWT’s MP, Michael McLeod, announced nearly $364,000 to split among 18 programs dedicated to seniors across the NWT.

Most projects received $25,000 and range from Enterprise’s Just Joggin Along program to get seniors active and seniors shelter support services in Hay River, to connecting youth and Elders on the land in Paulatuk and Elder sharing circles in hosted by the Teetl’it Gwich’in Band in Fort McPherson.

Angélique Ruzindana is the president of the Collège nordique francophone.

She said the funding will go towards a new book about northern culture to French-learners, and to help pay for the college’s Tłı̨chǫ language program.
