The Dettah ice road is now closed for the season.
The territorial Department of Infrastructure made the announcement on Twitter on Sunday.
It said the closure was due to the “rapidly warming weather.”
While the road closed a few days later than the 20-year average of April 16, its opening was delayed to mid-January due to the extreme cold in December.
Anyone caught driving on a closed ice road can be fined up to $860.
